October is typically a tough month for the stock market. Is the recent volatility worse than normal or do we just all have investor Alzheimer’s?
Yesterday’s flip-of-the-switch positive to negative move was a prime example of what has been driving the recent rapid volatility increase; investor Alzheimer’s. Investors have gotten so used to going from bottom left to top right that many have forgotten what a normal market looks like, but is the stock market really that bad? Other topics include:

The market was overdue for a correction, however, media would have you believe we’re already in the middle of a recession. Let’s put these market corrections in perspective.
Bloodbath, plummeting, rapid decline. These are the words the media uses to destroy your confidence in the stock market. The trade issues are causing a slow down so earnings growth expectations for 2019 and 2020 are in question. Yes the NASDAQ is in "correction" but is still positive for the year. The S&P and Dow have merely lost the gains for the year. Other topics include:

Trade issues are causing upset in the markets here prompting companies such as Harley Davidson to look elsewhere for production. The kicker- they are definitely hurting China more.
Sales took a major hit after Trump said he would support a boycott of Harley Davidson if they moved some production overseas to sidestep EU tariffs. While sales themselves are not shrinking, margin costs are and all fingers point to trade issues. Are we still meeting our expected Q3 growth numbers despite higher costs? Other topics include:

US home construction falls and rates go up. Have we officially hit our affordability ceiling? What’s going on with real estate?
Uber could go public next year and Lyft announces a subscription plan at discounted prices. Is ride sharing cheaper for commuters after you factor in insurance, gas and auto payments? I also look at mixed Q3 returns and the decrease in US home construction and affordability. Other topics include:

The market rallied last quarter, but is pulling back now. Is the media making things sound worse than it really is?
There have been rolling corrections in different sectors and in different stocks making this month tough on investors following the large Q3 returns. Is now the time to become more conservative or simply ignore the headlines? Today I discuss:

10 year treasury rates are creeping up and could rise even faster. Can the economy handle the hikes or could trade issues and the like make this a prominent issue?
A large part of the investment world thought rates would fall again before the 10 year treasury hit 3.5%, and they are very close to being wrong. The Feds hinted they could hike rates even faster in the future despite global trade issues and warnings from Trump. Other topics include:

A disturbing amount of millennials are robbing their retirement accounts. Teach your children how to save now and stop this alarming trend before the problem gets worse.
Studies show that an alarming 1/3 of millennials have robbed their retirement accounts between 2001 and 2017. If this isn’t proof that we haven’t taught our children the importance of saving and how to go about it then this epidemic will only get worse and everyone will pay for it. Today I discuss how saving early can make you major retirement bucks. Other topics include:

While Kavanaugh dominated the conversations, the FOMC dominated economic news with the Accommodation Clause. Today I discuss what is likely to happen should the Feds stick to their predictions.
The Kavanaugh hearings were all anyone could talk about over the weekend, but the big news on the economic front was the quarterly Fed meeting. The FOMC removed the Accommodation Clause while Chairman Powell stated that “this does not imply the Fed will be less aggressive if necessary in raising rates.” With the fed funds rate believed to be raised in December and three more times next year, what does that mean for loan rates?
