I then take a look at living trusts and life insurance issues by discussing bypass trusts, by leaving an IRA to your kids, the Department of Labor rule that prevents sales of bad financial products and why life insurance sales are decreasing. I also respond to a couple of listener emails. One couple asks what they should do with their assets when they don’t trust anyone to sell or donate them after their death. Today I discuss overlooked retirement expenses, financial regrets most Americans have and how to correctly loan money to your children to buy a home.
Most Americans live without a detailed budget set in place; I go over several retirement expenses that are often overlooked or underestimated yet hold a major impact on your retirement. Why do we need the feds to raise rates this year? Do we see signs of inflation? According to the US Department of Health and Human Services, 70% Americans 65+ will need some form of extended care, how do you plan for this possibility? I then discuss a Bankrate survey that says most Americans have financial regrets. I also explain the correct way to loan money to your children for a down payment.

First quarter blended earnings decline, no-brainer social security fixes that aren’t and how 20% are still working past age 65.
Today I discuss the 7.1% decline of blended earnings for the first quarter of 2016, citing a drop of 107% in the energy sector alone as a major contributor. I also explain why the volatility of oil prices may not be over even though there has been supply interruptions. Jeffrey Gundlach weighs in on the Presidential campaign by discussing the possibility of Donald Trump increasing the budget deficit while producing short term economic gain. This spurs a discussion about global debt issues, rate hikes and tackling US debt. I explain some repercussions to “no-brainer” social security fixes and the ONLY two instances where immediate annuities are a good idea. I also share some alarming numbers from the Bureau of Labor and Statistics about people working past retirement age and how to avoid working after age 65.

Today I discuss dealing with children who are bad with money, taking a trial run at retirement and studying abroad with a 529 plan.
A conversation I overheard brings up a discussion about dealing with children who are bad with money, especially when it affects your estate plan. Why you should take a trial run at retirement. I respond to Dan’s question about where to keep safe money and provide an interesting alternative to an FDIC. Today I go through a list of things that need to happen before we see stock market stabilization and answer the questions of several listeners.
I express frustration over reporters who act like they are calling market ups and downs, persuading many to mess with their portfolios when they have zero experience in the business. I then go through a “laundry list” of things that need to happen before we see stabilization in the stock market; focusing on Chinese currency stability and an end to their government intervening, Apple's explanation for the slowdown in suppliers and oil causing uncertainties in many companies. I also respond to several listeners emails:

Today Kym gives us a full wrap up of the top innovations from last week’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. First Phil McKinney calls in and he and Kym discuss which companies they found to be the most exciting such as Phone Soap, an LED phone sanitizer and wearables with Bluetooth headphones incorporated from Ashley Chloe. Then, Extreme Tech Challenge judge and investor Veronica Serra calls and gives us her thoughts about the three companies chosen to pitch to Sir Richard Branson. Kym also chats with Eric Dy of Bloom Technologies which makes a wearable that tracks contractions during your third trimester. She finds out how he got the idea to start taking guesswork out of pregnancies, as well as other factors he is looking to track to reassure mom her pregnancy is normal. Finally Kym wraps up with Chris Crescitelli on the most anticipated news from CES, virtual reality. Chris talks about the battle between the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive and how they can stay out of a niche market with sensory overload and headaches being a problem.

Today I discuss the 2016 economy outlook, alternative investment strategies and critical dates for retirees.
Today I discuss the overall flat day on the market for Wall Street as European stocks close at their lowest since September and energy companies (taking the biggest hits) overall pulling down the index. I then explain why you should have a positive outlook on 2016 as central banks may finally be recognizing they have been over involved in economy. Other topics for discussion include:
I also take a call from Michael who asks if he should keep his long term care policy he bought from GE after it has been bought by another company.

Today I discuss financial New Year’s resolutions, new rules for your IRA’s and 401k’s, and answer some listener emails.
I open today’s show by talking about how municipal bonds outperformed other strategies in 2015. I go over some financial New Year’s resolutions I feel many people need to focus on including why you should rebalance your portfolio at least once this year. I then talk about the new budget deal that allows people to roll over required minimum distribution’s from IRA’s to charities and the new rules that allows employers to let workers make in plan conversions from their 401k to their ROTH 401k. I also respond to emails: Brian's elderly aunt has been taken advantage of financially by other family members and he wants to help protect her assets; and Adam who wants to know the best way to leave his son a house and his daughter his IRA in trust.

Today I discuss events that have led 2016 to a poor start, could junk bonds be the next big crisis and retirement scams.
Today I talk about the large drop in the Shanghai index spilling over to our market on the first day of trading in 2016. I discuss whether or not junk bonds may cause the next big economic crisis. I also explain why I think these seminars that coach people to cash in their retirement accounts to buy index life insurance are criminal. Other items for discussion:
