Today I discuss global debts, the lack of financially literate Americans, teaching children about money and choosing a financial planner that won’t rip you off.
I take a look at ballooning sovereign debt, social security questions and how much cash investors should have on hand. Wondering how to calculate the amount of safe money you need to have in retirement to help you make it through market corrections? I talk about a New York Times questionnaire that shows many Americans to be financially illiterate . I respond to a listener asking if dropping to part time work after years of full time work will negatively affect his social security payments. Dealing with children who are underemployed because tof poor college choices, common bad money habits parents teach their children and how to teach youger children about money management. I discuss why people tend not to trust the stock market because of scammers like Bernie Madoff and stress the importance of getting the right help so you don't get swindled.
