The first tax checks should be in the mail today. Here’s what you’ll need to know if you want to avoid penalties from the IRS.

It’s January 15th and its time to make a tax payment. Even if you are going to file for an extension, avoid excess penalties from the IRS and send in a check if you have not withheld enough money or paid enough in quarterly tax payments.
