Facebook loses Instagram and Alphabet joins the communications sector. Why do these two moves have XLK holders less than happy?
Last year big changes were made when real estate was pulled out of the financial sector. Now Google and Alphabet are moving to the new communications sector, joining the likes of AT&T and Verizon. It has also been announced that the Instagram cofounders are leaving Facebook. This is not great news for anyone who owns XLK, the ETF that will no longer hold Facebook or Alphabet.
